Starting your incredible journey with a guided city tour in Kathmandu, you drive to Soti Khola to begin your trek. Then, you follow the trail along the bank of the Budhi Gandaki to reach Jagat. Few kilometers ahead of Jagat, the trail branches off into two, and you join the Manaslu circuit trail leaving the Tsum valley trail. In the upcoming days, you walk past the village of Deng and Namrung and continue to walk until you reach Samagaon, where you rest for a day to acclimatize.

After your second acclimatization at Samdo, you head for Larkya La Pass from where you can enjoy the panoramic view of the beautiful mountain peaks around. Finally, you descend to Besisahar via Tilije and Tal and drive back to Kathmandu to pack up your journey.

Manaslu circuit trek goes along the off-the-beaten trail. However, the popularity of this trail is increasing gradually. There are adequate teahouse lodges in the area that provide basic facilities to trekkers. This trek requires one to obtain the special restricted area permit for Manaslu (Manaslu RAP). Manaslu Conservation Area Project (MCAP) permit, and Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) permit. The best time to do this trek is during spring and autumn when the view of the mountains is clear.

Manaslu Circuit Trek Itinerary

Day 01 Arrival in Kathmandu Airport

Welcome to Nepal

You’ll receive a warm welcome at Tribhuvan International Airport from our friendly staff. They will help you with your luggage and transfer you to the hotel. In the evening, you’ll have a welcome dinner and a briefing about the trek and things to consider during your stay in Nepal.

Day 02 Guided sightseeing around Kathmandu Valley

Although modern in appearance, Kathmandu has many hidden cultural heritages and is also known as the City of Temples. Pashupatinath and Swayambhunath are the two most famous temples in the city that are also included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites List. The Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Patan Durbar Square are spectacular places to visit. Observe the enigmatic wood carvings and the structural elegance of various monuments around the city. The historical background and the cultural significance behind them are also equally interesting to know.

Day 03 Drive to Soti Khola (710 m) by Jeep

The trek begins with a drive from Kathmandu along the Prithvi Highway. A smooth drive along a black-topped road takes you to Dhading Bensi from where the road goes up to Gola Bhanjyang and then down to Ankhu Khola. You cross the Budhi Gandaki River at Arughat and proceed to drive towards Soti Khola. This eight-hour drive rewards you with scenic villages, rivers, terraced farms, and fantastic views of Mount Manaslu and Ganesh.

Day 04 Trek to Machha Khola (900 m)

The path goes up from Soti Khola, and you walk along the sal forest, enjoying the occasional view of Manaslu and Ganesh Himal. Continuing your trek further, you walk past the hillside villages, terraced fields, and some waterfalls until you reach Lapubesi, the beautiful Gurung village. The trail descends from Lapubesi to Nauli Khola, where you cross the suspension bridge. Walking farther down, you will find yourself on the bank of the Budhi Gandaki River. Finally, you ascend the uphill path to Machha Khola and rest there for the night.

Day 05 Trek to Jagat (1,340 m)

After breakfast, you take the upstream route to the small village of Khola Bensi. As you continue, you will find natural hot springs at Tatopani. Then, you cross a suspension bridge over the Buddhi Gandaki River and walk past the landslide to reach Dhoban. Then, you cross the suspension bridge over Yaru Khola and ascend the staircases of Thado Bharyang. Eventually, the ascending route takes you to the lovely village of Jagat, where you enter the Manaslu Conservation Area.

Day 06 Trek to Deng (1,860 m)

Today, you’ll walk through the protected territories of the Manaslu conservation area. You begin your trek as you climb up a raised strip of rocks to Salleri and then descend to Sirdibas. Then, you continue your trek through Ghatta Khola and cross a long suspension bridge at Philim. As you trek further, the trail branches off into two at Ekle Bhatti. The one trail leads to Tsum valley trek and the other into Manaslu circuit trek. The Manaslu circuit trail continues along a deep gorge and then descends to grassy slopes. After crossing Budhi Gandaki and Deng Khola a couple of times, you’ll arrive at Deng.

Day 07 Trek to Namrung (2,630 m)

The trek begins with an uphill climb to a bridge and further up to meet another trail from Bhi. As you trek further through the lush forest and small Gurung settlements, beautiful mountain peaks in the north come to your sight. You continue to walk until you reach the village of Prok and stop for a while to savor the excellent view of Shringi Himal. Then, you cross the Budhi Gandaki a couple of times and walk through the forest. You’ll notice a gradual decrease in tree density as you trek further up. Finally, you stop at Namrung for an overnight stay.

Day 08 Trek to Samagaon (3,530 m)

The village of Namrung offers you an excellent view of Mt. Shringi, Mt. Ganesh, and Mt. Himal Chuli. Besides, the custom of Nubri people, Tibetan-styled houses, and Mani walls inscribed with arcane scripts and the beautiful terraced field are the things you’ll notice as you walk through the village. The village trail leads you into a forest of fir, oak, and rhododendron to Lho. The Manaslu peaks look stunning from this village. From Lho, you follow an easy trail through the pine and rhododendron forest, walk past the Shyala village, and finally stop at Samagaon for an overnight stay.

Day 09 Exploration Day at Samagaon (3,530m)

Acclimatization helps you to adapt to the environment and prevents you from altitude sickness. Today, you’ll explore the picturesque landscape of Samagaon, the lifestyle of people, and their culture. A short hike to Pungyen is an excellent option to explore the beauty of the place. Pungyen Gompa is about two hours walk from the village and offers you the magnificent view of Mt. Manaslu. Besides, the yaks grazing on pasturelands is a fantastic sight to see. Hiking to Manaslu Base Camp or Birendra Lake is also equally impressive options available for you.

Day 10 Trek to Samdo (3,860 m)

Today, you encounter long Mani walls and yak pastures along the way. The trail descends to the Budhi Gandaki River. You cross a wooden bridge that leads you to the wide valley. As you trek upward, the trees dwarf themselves into shrubs and bushes. As you walk further up, a picturesque village, Kane comes into your sight. People of the village are dedicated to yak herding. Finally, you stop at Samdo, a village near the Tibetan border.

Day 11 Acclimatization at Samdo

A break in the trek is required to cope up with the high altitude. This day not only helps you to acclimatize but offers an opportunity to explore the particular area. You can visit the nearby villages, or you can climb up to Samdo peak to enjoy the enticing Mountain View. A trip to the Tibetan border is also an exciting option. The cross-border yak caravan is even more spectacular to watch. Overnight stay at Samdo.

Day 12 Trek to Dharmasala (4,460 m)

The route adorned with colorful prayer flags, and long Mani wall signifies the religious belief and traditions of people in this area. As you walk through them, you can experience the cultural and religious vibes of the place. A beautiful path through the Mani walls and terraced field lead you to a wooden bridge over Budhi Gandaki. From there, you climb upward toward Larkya La Pass. After crossing a couple of burbling streams, the magnificent Larkya Glacier comes into sight. As you continue your trek through the valley of Salkhakhola, you arrive at Dharmashala.

Day 13 Trek via Larkya La Pass (5,160 m) to Bimthang (3,720 m)

Today, you will walk through the challenging section of the trail and ascend to the highest point of the trail. The trail is challenging, but the incredible view it offers is something certain to delight your soul. The trail first ascends to the north side of Larkya Glacier, which affords a stunning view of Cho Danda and Larkya La Peak. Then, you walk across the moraines of the glacier and climb up the steep section of Larkya La Pass and reach the highest point of the trek. This is the best place to savor the incredible views of Himlung, Cheo, and Mt. Annapurna II. After this rewarding challenge, you descend to the beautiful yak pastures to make your way to Bimthang.

Day 14 Trek to Tilije (2,300 m)

You begin your early morning trek enjoying the outstanding views of Manaslu, Lamjung, and Himlung from a nearby ridge. Then, you climb down the trail through the yak pastures and cross a bridge over the Dudh Khola. The trail then takes you through the rhododendron forest, followed by a farming village of Karche. On the way, you’ll notice signs of glacial flood and walk through a rough trail until you reach Gurung Gau. Then, you walk along the forested hills to reach Tilije.

Day 15 Trek to Tal (1,430 m)

After breakfast, you begin your walk through fields, pastures, and forests. First, you cross a bridge over the Dudh Khola and climb up to the village of Thonje and continue to trek to Dharapani. At Dharapani, you enter Annapurna Conservation Area, leaving Manaslu Conservation Area. The trail further down goes along the banks of the Marsayangdi River. You cross the bridge over Marsayangdi, walk past few Mani walls, and reach the village of Tal. Overnight stay at Tal.

Day 16 Drive from Tal to Kathmandu via Besisahar (760 m)

Your trekking has come to an end. Today, you'll have a new drive from Tal to Kathmandu. The first part of this nine-hour drive is a little bumpy, but the road is in excellent condition onwards, Besisahar. You can enjoy the picturesque landscape, an incredible view of the meandering Marsayangdi and Trishuli Rivers, and some beautiful settlements along the way.

Day 17 Leisure Day and Farewell Dinner in Kathmandu

Today is a leisure day in Kathmandu. You can spend the day exploring some famous places. A short drive can take you amazing places in Bhaktapur and Lalitpur. Besides, you can use this day to do souvenir shopping around the city. In the evening, enjoy a lavish farewell party from our side.

Day 18 Transfer to International Airport for Your Final Departure

Enjoy your last breakfast in Kathmandu. After breakfast, our staff will drive you to the Tribhuvan International Airport according to the schedule of your flight. It’s good to be at the airport at least two hours before your flight. We hope you had a good time with us. We wish you a safe and happy journey.
