On the foothills of the majestic Langtang range, lies the stunning valley of Langtang. The hidden valley of Langtang is also known as the valley of glaciers. Located just 19 miles from the capital city of Kathmandu, the valley boasts its stunning Himalayan beauty attracting many trekkers from around the world.

Being one of the closest trekking destinations from the capital in the country, one can enjoy a leisurely trek in the Langtang region. Often, famous treks, such as Everest Base Camp Trek (EBC Trek) and Annapurna Base Camp Trek (ABC Trek) overshadow treks in the Langtang region. However, taking into consideration the age limit, the Langtang Valley Trek is suitable for trekkers of all ages.

Comprising the Langtang Himalayas' best scenery and the spectacular cultural beauty of the Tamang people, the Langtang Valley Trek is a perfect getaway for you. Also, this trek is suitable for anyone wanting to travel in isolation. Trekking through the diverse geography as you witness the stunning views of Langtang Lirung (7,246 m), Shishapangma (8,013 m), and Dorje Lakpa (6,988 m) will offer you a real sense of adventure.

The 11- day journey starts with your arrival in Kathmandu. We begin our journey with an 8-hour road journey to Syabrubensi via a local bus or private jeep as per your preference. Then, starting the trek from Syabrubensi, we head towards the Lama Hotel. The scenic trail through lush green forests takes us over to Langtang village.

Enjoy and indulge in the local culture of the local people as you head towards the highest point of the trek at Kyangin Gompa (3900 m). We make our way back to Lama Hotel and then to Syabrubensi. We head back to Kathmandu, which brings our adventure to an end.

The best time to do the Langtang Valley Trek is during autumn (September to November) and spring (March to May). The weather is pleasant and fairly stable during these seasons.

We here at Himalayan Kingdom have been accompanying trekkers from around the world for over a decade. Join us for an adventure of your lifetime!

Langtang Valley Trek Itinerary

Day 01 Arrive Kathmandu

Touching down at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, our representative will welcome you and take you directly to your hotel. Refresh and relax for some time. Then, you can head to meet your trek guide. You can discuss the details of the trip with your guide over dinner at one of the restaurants nearby.

Day 02 Drive Kathmandu/ Syabrubensi by local bus or private jeep (1450 m)

After having an early breakfast at the hotel, you will prepare to leave for Syabrubensi (1,450 m). You can either take a local bus or a private jeep to Syabrubensi. A local bus will take more time to reach our destination than a private jeep. Driving through the Trishuli River banks, you will get to witness stunning views of the hilly landscapes. After arriving at Syabrubensi, we will check into the hotel and relax.

Day 03 Trek Syabrubensi/ Lama Hotel

The first day of the trek starts after a relaxing night at Syabrubensi. Ascending uphills through the forest, we head to Lama Hotel. The trails are well-marked. Heading towards Bamboo, we stop to have lunch. After a brief rest, we continue to trek along the banks of the Langtang River. After trekking for about 7 hours, we reach the Lama Hotel.

Day 04 Lama Hotel/ Langtang village

On the second day of the trek, we aim to reach the stunning Langtang village at an altitude of 3,541 meters. After an early breakfast, we start our trek through the beautiful Langtang National Park. We make our way alongside the Langtang River towards Thangshyap. You will notice the terrain slowly changing from hilly to mountainous. Peeking at the snowy mountains, we reach the Langtang village.

Day 05 Langtang/ Kyangin Gompa (3900 m)

An early start to the day, we begin our 3-hour trek towards Kyangin Gompa. Situated at an altitude of 3,900 meters, Kyangin Gompa is the highest point of our trek. Passing by Mundu and crossing several small streams, we finally reach the settlement area at Kyangin. You will see many old monasteries in the area. We visit Kyangin Gompa, one of the most important monasteries here.

Day 06 Day hiking and back to Kyangin Gompa

Today, we spend the day exploring Kyangin Gompa and its surrounding areas. You might as well head to Kyangin Ri (4,700 m) to witness the breathtaking mountain views. It is better to start hiking early as it might get cloudy after mid-day. The trail up to the top is not well-marked. So, we recommend you follow your guide. For a more relaxing day, you can choose to visit the cheese factories or head to Langshisha Kharka for sightseeing. After enjoying the stunning views, we head back to Kyangin Gompa for our overnight stay.

Day 07 Kyangin Gompa/ Lama Hotel (2490 m)

Today, we descend to Lama Hotel after an early breakfast. The trek is easy as the trails go mostly downhill. Trekking through dense rhododendron forests, we pass by Langtang valley, Mundu, and Ghoda Tabela to reach Lama Hotel. Along the way, we might catch glimpses of red pandas, boars, and gorals. After trekking downhill for 6 hours, we finally reach the Lama Hotel.

Day 08 Lama Hotel/ Syabrubensi via Sherpa Gaun (3000 m) and Khangsung

Today is the final day of the trek. After breakfast at Lama Hotel, we head towards Syabrubensi via Sherpa Gaun and Khangsung. The trek lasts around 6 hours. As you descend through Sherpa Gaun and Khangsung, you notice that this trail is broader and sunnier than the one we took while ascending. Savor the beautiful views as you walk past Tamang settlement areas towards Syabrubensi.

Day 09 Drive back to Kathmandu by local bus or (private jeep)

After an early breakfast at the lodge, we begin our journey back to the capital. A jeep will be waiting outside the lodge to drive you to Kathmandu. If you want a local experience of traveling on a local bus, we will arrange the tickets. After an 8-hour long journey alongside pleasant hilly landscapes, we reach Kathmandu in the evening. We directly head to the hotel. After relaxing for a while, head out to celebrate the successful completion of the trek with your guide.

Day 10 Kathmandu City Tour

After breakfast, you meet your city tour guide, who will accompany you today. First, you will visit the major sites of Kathmandu city and later head towards Patan. The city tour takes you to various UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Basantapur Durbar Square, Boudhanath stupa, and Pashupatinath temple. If you have any particular place you want to visit, do not hesitate to ask your guide to take you there. The city tour ends with a delicious meal at Patan Durbar Square.
