12 Days Darjeeling - Sikkim Tour

The tour is tailor made to give you a bit of adventure thrill and study of monastic life, indigenous culture and the life style of the hill people and their economy.  
Day 01. Bagdogra - Kurseong

Arrive Bagdogra airport and transfer by private vehicle to Kurseong about 2.5 hrs. Most of the journey is on a beautiful winding road in the middle of tea fields. Night in a former Britishbunglow, converted into a hotel. Morning.. O/N Cochrane Place (Only good hotel in Kurseong)

Day 02. Kurseong – Darjeeling (via the Toy Train)

Visit the tea plantation Makaibari, one of the most famous of the region and the only producer of organic tea. A hike of 45 min in the middle of the plantations brings us back to the hotel.
Afternoon.Departure to Darjeeling by toy train about 4 hrs. We will reach this city built on a ridge via the picturesque Himalayan Railway (nicknamed Toy Train, by the English) and a World Heritage Site by Unesco. O/N Hotel.

Day 03. Darjeeling visit:

Morning  visit the Himalayan Mountain Institute created by Tenzing Norgay (first climber along with Edmund Hillary to reach the summit of Everest on May 29 1953). The zoo is home to all the rarest species of the Himalayas (in stronger terms acceptable to a zoo!) Snow leopard, wolf, red panda, tiger, etc.
Afternoon viist Center of Tibetan refugees, Ghum Monastery or Monastery of Bhutia Busti (for an introduction to Buddhism as practiced in this part of India) Rest of the day free time to explore through the bazaars. O/N Hotel.

Day 04. Darjeeling trip to Mirik (1495 m) 

Departure by vehicle to the plantations of Mirik. Crossing many villages nestled amidst tea plantations. In visit Mirik Lake, few scattered villages and beautiful monastery (Bokar Ngedon Chokhor Ling). Drive back to Darjeeling in the evening. O/N Hotel

Day 05. Excursion in Chatakpur (2500 m)

Short transfer to Sonada (17 km). Then hike to reach the small village of Chatakpur. Lush vegetation, abundant birdlife, this region is still home to some rare wildlife (red panda). Picnic on the way. In the background the imposing massif of Kangchenjunga and even Everest (weather permitting). Back to vehicle and drive to Darjeeling. O/N Hotel

Day 06. Darjeeling - Pelling (2085 m) 

Drive to Pelling, West Sikkim about 5 hrs, a small hill station built on top of a panoramic hill, near the monastery of Pemayangtse. The road, splendid, through tea plantations before plunging into the gorge of the rivers Rangit and Teesta. This is one of the steepest routes we know in Himalaya (15 to 20% average slope!). Stop for a while at Melli (check-post) for permit formalities. After a few kilometers in the gorge, the road climbs the slopes of the hill to Pelling and rice terraces. O/N Hotel

Day 07. Pelling  Pemayangtse - Pelling

Short transfer to visit the magnificent monastery of Pemayangtse, "sublime and perfect lotus", former royal residence. Built on top of a hill, Pemayangtse is one of the oldest monasteries of Sikkim. From here, the view embraces the entire Kangchenjunga massif. Near the monastery, site visit Rabdentse, second capital of the ancient kingdom of Sikkim from 1670 to 1814. Afternoon excursion to Khecheopalri sacred lake surrounded by villages of Lepcha ethnic group. Drive back to Pelling. O/N Hotel 

Day 08. Pelling  - Tashiding - Ravangla - Temi tea garden

We take the road to Gangtok, the capital via Tashiding Monastery and Bon monastery Kundrak Ling at Kewaing. The Bon religion preceded Buddhism in Tibet. Very few monasteries still practice this ancient religion. Lunch at Ravangla. Another 18 km to the only tea plantation in Sikkim Temi tea garden. Night halt at Cherry Resort.

Day 09. Temi tea garden - Gangtok Short hike in the tea plantation. Then drive to Gangtok about 3 hrs. Afternoon free to explore the market. O/N Hotel

Day 10. Gangtok

Excursion to Labrang monasteries and Phodong, the northern most authorized point for Westerners. Drive back to hotel for lunch. O/N hotel 

Day 11. Gangtok  Rumtek - Gangtok

Located about 24 kilometers from Gangtok, the beautiful Rumtek monastery marks the site of the school of black hat. In the afternoon, return to Gangtok. Visit the Institute of Tibet and the Flower Show Emporium. Evening get together and dinner at home. ON Hotel 

Day 12. Gangtok - Bagdogra 

Transfer (checkout of Sikkim via Rangpo) to Bagdogra airport in West Bengal about 4 hrs. Chaotic road.

22 Days Darjeeling - Sikkim Tour with Dzongri - Goechala Trek

This is an excellent combination of tour and trek that takes you through the famous Hill Station of Darjeeling and the tea plantation and on to exciting Dzongri - Goechala (5000m) trail in Sikkim. Here you traverse at the base of Khanchendzonga (8586m), walk through verdant forests where you see a great variety of Orchids as well as Rhododendrons and primulas which carpet the alpine terrain during the months of April and May. The valley are warm and one can expect temperatures around 20 degrees C while night temperatures  drop below 0 degree C.

Day 01. Arrive Bagdogra airport and transfer to Marina Hotel for Lunch. After lunch proceed to Darjeeling 4 hrs drive. Dinner at hotel. O/N Hotel

Day 02. Darjeeling. Early morning visit Tiger Hill and on the way back visit Yigacholing Monastery. Drive back to hotel for breakfast. Day 03. Drive Darjeeling – Gangtok 4 hrs. After breakfast transfer to Gangtok via Lopchu and Peshok tea garden finally entering Sikkim through Rongpo. Day 04. Gangtok. Visit Rumtek Monastery situated 24 kms from Gangtok. It is the headquarter of Kagyu sect of Tibetan Buddhism. On the way back visit Namgyal Institute of Tibetology and Do-Drul Chorten. Lunch in the market. After lunch visit Cottage Industry and Enchey Monastery. Dinner at hotel. O/N Hotel

Day 05. Gangtok. Full day excursion to Phodong, Labrang and Phensang Monastery in North Sikkim. This day pack lunch will be provided. Dinner at Namgyal's residence. O/N Hotel

Day 06. Drive Gangtok to Temi Tea Garden about 3 hrs. Afternoon explore the tea garden and tea factory. Lunch and dinner at resort.  O/N Cherry Resort

Day 07. Drive Temi to Ravangla to visit Buddha Park. Lunch at Ravangla and proceed to Tashiding to visit the Tashiding Monastery. Continue the journey to Yuksam (1780m) about 5 hrs drive. Dinner at hotel. O/N Hotel Tashigang (meals will be prepared by trek crew in Yuksam)

Day 08. Trek to Sachen (2200m) about 4 hrs walk.
Our trek starts from Yuksom. The trail undulates through forests laden with trees like oak, chestnut, pine, fir, magnolias and rhododendrons. It really is a botanist's paradise. Here in this forest hundreds of varieties of wild orchids, a similar number of different species of birds and butterflies are found. Some animals that are at various altitudes on this trail are the Himalayan brown bear, black bear, musk deer, sambar, Tibetan antelope, wild goats and red pandas. The trail crosses two bridges of side streams and then finally the campsite at Sachen. Lunch at the camp. O/N camp

Day 09. Trek to Tshoka (3005m) about 4 hrs walk.
Descend slowly through the dense forest and cross the Prek Chu River. Then, from the Prek Chu river an hour or two steep climb up the opposite bank. As throughout the trek, the trails have lots of switchbacks. Towards Bakhim you can meet herders with their yaks and cows. Tshoka is about an hour or two climb from Bakhim. Lunch will be served at the campsite. O/N camp/hut

Day 10. Trek to Phedang (3500m) about 3 hrs walk.
This days hike is magical. The trail climbs a picturesque place, Phedang. Meadows through a dense forest of rhododendrons. Lunch at Phedang. O/N camp

Day 11. Trek to Dzongri (4030m) about 4 hrs walk.
The trail goes right in the middle of an enchanting forest with rhododendrons up the tree line to Deorali (4000m) settings with prayer flags. From there, you can get a spectacular view of the mountains as Kangchendzonga, Sinolchu, Kabru, Pandim, Jopuno , Kokthang, Talung and Narsing. The trail now climbs onto the covered ridge of rhododendron bushes before falling slightly to Dzongri. Lunch at Dzongri. O/N camp

Day 12. Trek to Kokchurung (3550m) – Thangsing (3800m) about 5-6 hrs walk.
Early morning climb the Dzongri view point to get the sunrise view of the Khangchendzonga and its neighnouring peaks. Return back to canp. After breakfast trail descends approx. 350m steep down to Kokchurung at the bank of river Preckchu. The walk down the hill is mostly through the rhododendron bushes. After crossing the river it is gradual climb to Thangsing passing through the silver fir and rhododendron forest. Lunch at Kokchurung. O/N camp

Day 13. Trek to Lamini (4100m) about 3 hrs walk. O/N camps
After breakfast the trail is slight climb and it passes along the left banks of the Prekchu river and the moraines.  On the way you can see the herds of Yaks grazing on the meadows. After lunch walk to Samiti Lake. O/N camp

Day 14. Trek to Samiti Lake – Goechala (4950m) and back to Lamini about 6 hrs walk.
Wake-up early in the morning at around 3:30 AM and after tea walk up to Goechala. There will be packed breakfast. The trail is steep and passes through the moraines of Mt. Pandim. From the view point you climb down and walk through the flat and sandy area of Zemathang and then slowly climb up to Goechala pass which takes about 4 hrs. From here you can get the close view of the massive Mt. Khangchendzonga 8585m. After a while trek back to Samiti which takes around 2 hrs. Rest for a while and then trek to Lamini. O/N camp

Day 15. Trek back to Thangsing – Kokchurung about 4 hrs walk.
After breakfast leisure trek back to Thangsing and than to Kokchurung (same way). O/N camps/hut

Day 16. Trek back to Phedang (different route) – Tshoka about 5-6 hrs walk.
After breakfast take the different route to Phedang where lunch will be served and after lunch descend down to Tshoka about 5-6 hrs walk. O/N camps/hut

Day 17. Trek back to Yuksam about 5-6 hrs walk (same route). O/N Hotel - meals will be prepared by the trek crew

Day 18. Yuksam – after breakfast walk for about 45 minutes to Dubdi Monastery situated at the opposite hill. Walk back and visit Norbugang Throne where first king of Sikkim Chogyal Phonshok Namgyal was coronated in 1641 AD. After this proceed to Khechupalri Lake (A wishing lake – than continue the journey till Pelling about 3 hrs drive. Late lunch at Pelling. Dinner at hotel. O/N Hotel

Day 19. Pelling. Morning visit Pemayangtse Monastery and Rabdantse Palace ruins (2nd capital of Sikkim). After lunch visit Sangacholing Monastery. O/N Hotel

Day 20. Drive Pelling to Kalimpong via Legsip – Jorethang and finally checking out Sikkim through Melli Check Post about 4 hrs. Lunch on the way and dinner at hotel. O/N Hotel

10 days Dzongri Trek

For  those with little time, or less inclination to undergo the rigoreous of hard mountain trekking, the trek up to the meadows of Dzongri offers the benefit of having experienced a truly spectacular alpine trek within a span of a week (or even less). The trail runs through moss-laden forests of oak, chestnut, pine, maple, magnolia and rhododendron culminating in the meadows of Dzongri at 4,030 meters with exceptional mountain views. It is a naturalist's paradise. These forests harbour hundreds of varieties of wild plants; exotic orchids , birds and butterflies.  

Along with Mighty Mt. Kanchendzonga 8585m - The third highest mountains in the world, some of the most well know peaks seen during this trek from Dzongri View Points are Mt. Pandim 6691m, Mt. Kabur north 7338m, Mt. Kabur south 7317m, Mt. Kumbhakarna (Janoo) 7710m, Mt. Simvo 6811m, Mt. Kabru Forked 6108m, Mt, Frey Peak 5830m, Mt. Rathong 6679m and Mt.  Kokthang 6147m . 

Day 01. Arrive Bagdogra airport, meet our staff and transfer to Marina Hotel for lunch. After lunch proceed to Gangtok with short stop at Rongpo (Sikkim – Bengal border) for permit formalities. About 5 hrs drive. O/N Hotel

Day 07. Trek to Dzongri (4030m) about 6 hrs walk about 10-12 kms. This day the hike is nothing short of magical. The trail ascends to a picturesque spot, Phedang Meadows passing through dense rhododendron forest. Lunch at Phedang. After lunch the trail ascends right amidst an exclusive and bewitching forest of rhododendron to break the treeline at a deorali (4000m) (highpoint) decorated in auspicious prayer flags. From here you can get spectacular views of peaks like Kangchenjunga, Sinolchu, Kabru, Pandim, Jopino, Kokthang, Talung and Narsing. The trail now rides the ridge covered with rhododendrons bushes before descending slightly to Dzongri. O/N camp

Day 08. Wake-up tea at 4 am and climb Dzongri View Point (one hour) gaining 200m for an unforgettable close up view of the Kangchenjunga massif and other Himalayan peaks. Walk back to camp and after breakfast walk back to Tshoka (same route) about 5 hr walk. O/N camp/hut

Day 09. Trek back to Yuksam.
Trek back to Yuksam (same route) about 5-6 hrs walk. O/N Hotel - meals will be served by the trek crew.

Day 10. Early morning transfer to Bagdogra - same route about 6 hrs

21 Days Darjeeling Sandakphu Trek & Sikkim Dzongri – Tashiding Trek

This trek offers the opportunity to enjoy the oldest trek trail of Sandakphu in Darjeeling and the Dzongri trail in Sikkim. This program gives you the make an in depth study of the nature and the people.  

Day 01. Bagdogra - Darjeeling ( 2134 m)
Arrive Bagdogra from Mumbai, a small town in the foothills of Piedmont Himalayan. Transfer by coach to Darjeeling. Night in Hotel Dekeling. 95 km 5 hour drive.

Day 02. Darjeeling and around
The program of the day: Darjeeling, the capital of tea! Yogachöling Gompa monastery. Visit the Himalayan Mountain Institute ,created by Tenzing Norgay, in the park, snow leopards breeding centre, Tibetan Refugee Center. shopping possible late afternoon. Night in Hotel Dekeling.

Day 03. Darjeeling - Manebhanjang ( 2134 m) - Tonglu ( 3056 m)
Transfer to Manebhanjang (2000 m) in private minibus and start trekking in the Singalila National Park. Meeting our support team and our carriers. Right up to the village of Chitre and softens the way, and we through the village of Lamaydura before reaching Tonglu, built on a scenic ridge where you can contemplate the sunset on the plains of Bengal and the sunrise over theKanchenjunga. Overnight in tents. 3 hour drive. 5 hours of walking.

Day 04. 11th OCT. Tonglu - Kalapokhari ( 3250 m)
After a hearty breakfast,  we follow the trail along the ridge separating India from Nepal. First Nepali hamlet Tumling before reaching Lamburi. The route is marked by mani and flags with prayers,small stupas and Hindu temples. Between ghostly and mysterious lakes small trees, we connect the village Kalapo khari, near where we set up camp. Overnight in tents. 5 h 30 walk.

Day 05. Kalapokhari - Sandakphu ( 3636 m)
This is primarily a balcony path on the plain of Bengal and the valleys of eastern Nepal, and then we reach the top. Beautiful views of the Bhutanese mountains, Kangchenjunga and Pandim. Short step to a good start acclimatization. Overnight in tents. 4 hours of walking.

Day 06. Sandakphu - Phalut (3600 m)
Walking on the crest of the hill border with Nepal is totally exceptional and panoramic, of the Everest sleeping. Ascents and descents alternate on excellent trails. Overnight in tents. 6 to 7 hours of walking.

Day 07. Phalut (3600 m) - Gorkey (2500 m) - Rammam (2560 m)
Sunrise early morning on Kangchenjunga, the Jannu, Everest, Makalu and Lothse ! The top of the Phalut, India - Nepal border, Sikkim, we're getting closer to the Kangchenjunga. Great run in the forest of pines, oaks, rhododendrons, Rammam to the river and the beautiful village of Gorkey stepped in the middle of cornfields. After lunch, peaceful climb to hilltop village of Rammam. Overnight in tents. 6 hours of walking. 

Day 08. Rammam - Rimbick ( 2130 m) - Darjeeling
The program for the day, many villages and hamlets built on the mountainside, terraced fields and vegetation lush. The inhabitants are of immense kindness, and we enjoy the many scenes of everyday life : peasants working in the fields, shoemakers, tailors. Our first trek ends ... to Rimbick, quiet village. Transfer to Darjeeling for a relaxing night. Night in Hotel Dekeling. 4 hours of walking and 4 hrs drive.
                                                                                                                                      
Day 09. Darjeeling - Pelling ( 2085 m)
The road passes through tea plantations before joining the gorge Rangit river, border with Sikkim. After few kilometers in the gorge, the road climbs the slopes of the hill Pelling and rice terraces. Night in Pemaling Residency. 9 hours drive.

Day 10. Pelling - Yuksam (1780 m)
Visit the magnificent monastery Pemayantse, "lotus sublime and perfect," former royal residence. Built on top of a hill Pemayantse is one of the oldest monasteries of Sikkim. From here, the panorama embracing the Kangchenjunga massif in which place our trek the next day. Transfer Yuksam. The scenery is beautiful : rice fields, waterfalls, large suspension bridges. Walk in Yuksam afternoon. Visit Norbugang, remains of the first capital of Sikkim. Night in Hotel Tashigang. 3 hours drive.
Day 11. Yuksam - Tshoka ( 3005 m)
Beginning of the second trekking. Comfortable path through a beautiful primeval forest. Several suspension bridges on beautiful grooves. Tshoka is a hamlet consisting of forest - tourism huts and temple and overlooking a small lake. Overnight in tents. 7-8 hours of walking.

Day 12. Tshoka - Dzongri ( 4030 m)
The path leaves the forest and we reach the clearing Phedang and continue to climb up to the ridge of Dzongri, where float a few prayer flags - views of Kangchenjunga ( 8598 m ), the Kabru ( 7338 m), the Pandim (6691 m) ... night tents. 6 hours of walking.

Day 13. Dzongri - Thangsing - Lamini ( 4100 m)
Before breakfast, for the brave, sunrise morning sun on top of the Dzongri Peak ( 4250 m). Climb to the Dzongri, the view opens on Pandim. The path we take balcony offers magnificent views. Steep descent to the bridge over the Rathang and spectacular rise of the valley to the foot of Pandim. Camp 1 hour before the lake. Night tents. 7 hours of walking.

Day 14. Lamini - Samiti Lake - Thanshing (3900 m) - optional : up to Gocha La ( 4950 m). Depart early morning (around 3 am ). The climb is a bit challenging but the rewards are out, after 3 hours of effort, exceptional ! The Onglaktang glacier and moraine lake are beautiful just like the 4000 meters south-east face of Kangchenjunga and its hanging glacier. The more fit can climb to the Gocha La where the view is even more imposing. In return, you have to walk to beautiful Lake Samiti and large pasture Thanshing (1 h 30). Overnight in tents. 8-9 hours round trip from the lookout for additional neck of Gocha La. 
NB :
Those who do not go to the neck can descend to camp to wait for the rest of the group.
Day 15. Thanshing - Lam Pokhari ( 4300 m) - Tshamri ( 4180 m)
We take a path balconies amidst rhododendrons, we are on the side facing the Dzongri Peak and the view is beautiful on the Kabru and dome ( 6500 m). The small hill that we have achieved, we see the Lam Pokhari lake as we reach for our campsite. Yaks graze. Overnight in tents. 5 hours of walking.

Day 16. Tshamri - Kasturi Ridge ( 4350 m) - Kasturi Odal ( 3400 m)
This day is intense. Starting to reach the river (100 m descent ) and the rise of the corridor (200 m ) is raid; and beautiful route "roller coaster" to the edge of Kasturi . Spectacular descent to reach the hut at Kasturi Odal, lost in the forest of rhododendrons. Overnight in tents. 7 h 30 walk.

Day 17. Kasturi Odal - Lapdang (2000 m)
Long steep descent into a primeval forest completely preserved : many species of orchids grow there, but hardly recognizable except during summer flowering. Very nice atmosphere. Lapdang is the first village inhabited we meet since we left Tshoka. Overnight in tents. 7 hours of walking.

Day 18. Lapdang - Sinon Gompa - Tashiding ( 1470 m)
Nice and easy step. We reach a track on the hillside that we follow for about 3 hours, until the waterfall of Kongri, high of about 100 meters, then cross the village of Gangyap. A beautiful balcony path on cultivated terraces leads us to a 2-hour descent to the village of Tashiding. End of our second trek. Overnight in Yatri Niwas. 5 hours of walking.

Day 19. Tashiding - Gangtok
Visit the monastery Tashiding, one of the finest in the region. Its Buddhist monuments are among the most sacred in Sikkim. Transfer to Gangtok. The road passes Rabang, which still offers a magnificent panorama. Arriving lateday. Night in Mintokling Guest House. 1 hour 30 minutes walk (round trip monastery Tashinding). 7 hours 30 minutes drive.

Day 20. Gangtok - Rumtek - Gangtok (1870 m)
Morning visit Rumtek Monastery, a masterpiece of Tibetan architecture. This is the main monastery Buddhist school black caps (typical of Sikkim ). It houses the Karmapa, the spiritual head of the Kargupa sect. We have time to explore this site. Back to Gangtok. At the entrance of the city, visit the Tibetan Institute near the Orchid Garden. Shopping. Night in Mintokling Guest House. 1 hour 30 minutes drive.

Day 21. Gangtok - Bagdogra 

Transfer to Bagdogra to connect their flight to onward destinations

13 Days Dzongri Trek 

This Dzongri Trek is tailor made for those who wants to enjoy their trek leisureously.

Day 01. Arrival at Bhadrapur airport (Nepal) and transfer to Kakarbhitta (India – Nepal border) about 40 minutes by car. After immigration formalities in Nepal side proceed to Ranigunj for Indian immigration formalities. Transfer to Darjeeling about 5 hrs drive with lunch stop at Marina Hotel at Bagdogra. O/N Hotel

Day 02. Darjeeling - Visit Tiger Hill , Yigacholing Monastery, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Zoo and Tibetan Refugees Self Help Centre. O/N Hotel

Day 03. Drive from Darjeeling to Gangtok about 106 kms 4 hours.
Transfer to Gangtok via Lopchu and Peshok tea garden finally entering Sikkim through Rongpo check post (Sikkim - Bengal border). Afternoon free to explore the market. O/N Hotel

Day 04. Gangtok - Visit Rumtek Monastery, Do- Drul Chorten, Tibetology, Handicraft and Enchey Monastery. O/N hotel

Day 05. Drive Gangtok - Yuksam (1780m ) about 135 kms 6 hrs .
Transfer to Yuksam and on the way visit Temi Tea Garden and Buddha Park at Ravangla. O/N Hotel - meals served by trekking crew

Day 06. Trek to Sachen (2200m ) about 4 hours walk, about 9 km
Our trek starts from Yuksom. The trail undulates through forests laden with trees like oak, chestnut, pine, fir, magnolias and rhododendrons. It really is a botanist's paradise. Here in this forest hundreds of varieties of wild orchids, a similar number of different species of birds and butterflies are found. Some animals that are at various altitudes on this trail are the Himalayan brown bear, black bear, musk deer, sambar, Tibetan antelope, wild goats and red pandas. The trail crosses two bridges of side streams with solid wood and then finally the campsite at Sachen. Lunch at the camp. O/N camp

Day 07. Trek to Tshoka ( 3005M ) about 4 hours walk, about 7 km
Descend slowly through the dense forest and cross the Prek Chu River. Then, from the Prek Chu river an hour or two steep climb up the opposite bank. As throughout the trek, the trails have lots of switchbacks. Towards Bakhim you can meet hearders with their yaks and cows. Tshoka is about an hour or two climb from Bakhim. Lunch will be served at the campsite. O/N camp/hut

Day 08. Trek to Phedang ( 3550m ) about 3 hours walk, about 6 km
This days hike is magical. The trail climbs a picturesque place, Phedang. Meadows through a dense forest of rhododendrons. Lunch at Phedang. O/N camp

Day 09. Trek to Dzongri ( 4030m ) about 3 hours about 6 km walk
The trail goes right in the middle of an enchanting forest with rhododendrons up the treeline to Deorali (4000m) settings with prayer flags. From there, you can get a spectacular view of the mountains as Kangchenjunga, Sinolchu, Kabru, Pandim, Jopino , Kokthang, Talung and Narsing. The trail now climbs onto the covered ridge of rhododendron bushes before falling slightly to Dzongri. Lunch at Dzongri. O/N camp

Day 10. Early morning climb up for an hour to the Dzongri view point to see the sunrise view of the Mt. Khangchendzonga and it neighbouring peaks. Return back to camp. After breakfast trek back to Phedang - Tshoka (same route) about 5 hours walking. O/N camp

Day 11. Trek back to Yuksam (same route) about 5-6 hours of walking. O/N Hotel - meals served by the trekking crew

Day 12. Drive Yuksam - Pelling - Kalimpong about 6 hours
Transfer to Pelling and visit Pemayangtse Monastery and Rabdantse Palace ruins. Then transfer to Kalimpong via Joretheng and finally exiting Sikkim through Melli. O/N Hotel

Day 13. Transfer to Bagdogra airport about 3 hrs

Sikkim Dzongri – Goechala - Singalila Treks

This is the longer version of Dzongri trek. The trail offers excellent views of the mountains of Eastern Nepal as well as those of Sikkim.  

Day 01. Arrive at Bagdogra & transfer to Kalimpong about 3-4 hrs drive. O/N hotel
                           
Day 02. Visit Sandokpalri Monastery and and a flower nursery for which Kalimpong is famous for then transfer to Gangtok about 4hrs drive entering Sikkim through Rongpo. Afternoon at leisure. O/N hotel

Day 03. Gangtok sightseeing. Visit Rumtek Monastery 24 kms from Gangtok. While on return visit Research Institute of Tibetology, Do-Drul Chorten. Afternoon visit Cottage Industry and Enchey Monastery. O/N hotel

Day 04. Transfer to Yuksam via Temi Tea Garden about 6 hrs drive. Afternoon visit the Norbu Ghang the place where the first King of Sikkim, Chogyal Phonshok Namgyal was coronated on 1641 AD. O/N camp

Day 05. Trek to Bakhim (2700m)  about 6 hrs walk. Trek starts at Yuksom. The trail undulates through moss laden forests of oak, chestnut, pine, firs, magnolia and rhododendron. It is really a botanist paradise. Here in this forest hundreds of varieties of wild orchids vie for attention with a similar number of different kinds of birds and butterflies. Some of the animals that are found at various altitudes on this trail are the Himalayan brown bear, black bear, barking and musk deer, sambar, marble cat, Tibetan antelope, wild goats and red pandas. The trail crosses 2 side streams over sturdy wooden bridges and then to Sachen for lunch. After lunch Slowly descend through the dense forest and cross the Prekchu river. Then from the Prek Chu river before an hours or two steep ascent up the opposite bank. As throughout the whole trek, trails are with plenty of switchbacks. En route to Bakhim you are likely to encounter herders with their yaks and cows. Upon arrival at Bakhim check in to campsite. O/N camp

Day 06. Trek to Phedang (3550m) about 4-5 hrs walk. Walk for about an hour or so to reach Tshoka. Tsokha is the last Tibetan village passed on this trail. The local habitants only about 17-20 Tibetan people. This settlement was donated by the late Chogyal Palden Thendup Namgyal since 1967. After Tshoka the hike is nothing short of magical. From here the trail ascends to a picturesque spot, Phedang Meadow passing through dense rhododendron forest. Lunch will be served at Phedang. O/N camp

Day 07. Trek to Thangsing (3850m) about 5-6 hrs. This day the trail is gradual till Kokchurung with plenty of minor ups and downs, passing through small streams, dense rhododendron and silver fir forest. Say after about 3-4 hrs walk you reach Kokchurung. Then cross the Prekchu river and the trail is gradual climb till Thangsing which takes about 1.5 hrs walk. O/N camp

Day 08. Trek to Lamini (4100m) about 3 hrs. The trail is slight climb and it passes along the right banks of the Prekchu river. On the way you see the herds of Yaks grazing on the meadows. Afternoon lunch visit the Samiti Lakeand back. O/N camp

Day 09. Trek Lamini – Samiti Lake (4250m) – Goechala (4950m)– Lamini – Thangsing. Wake-up early in the morning at around 3:30 AM and after tea walk up to Goechala. There will be packed breakfast. The trail is steep and passes through the morains of Mt. Pandim. From the view point you climb down and walk through the flat and sandy area of Zemathang and then slowly climb up to Goechala pass which takes about 4 hrs. From here you can get the close view of the massive  Mt. Khangchendzonga 8585m. After a while trek back to Samiti and then to Lamini which takes around 2 hrs. After lunch trek back to Thangsing. O/N camp 

Day 10. Trek to Dzongri (4030m) 4-5 hrs. Follow the same route till Kokchurung and from there steep climb begins which takes about 3 hrs walk till Dzongri. Camp at Doring a beautiful wide meadow at the foot hill of Black Kabur peak. O/N camp

Day 11. A day at Dzongri. Wake-up tea at 4 am and climb Dzongri peak (one hour) gaining 200m for an unforgettable close up view of the Kangchenjunga massif and other Himalayan peaks like Kabru Dome, Kabru North, Kabru South, Pandim, Talung, Kokthang, Narsing, etc. Walk back to camp for breakfast. Rest of the day at leisure. O/N camp

Day 12. Trek to Pangding (about 4340m) 6-7 hrs. The trail descends for an hour or two till Bikbari and cross the BIkbari river, then steep climb for about 3.5 hrs it passes through the dense rhododendron bushes. O/N camp

Day 13. Trek to Gomathang (3725m) about 5-6 hrs. The trail descends for about 4.5 hrs passing through the dense rhododendron shrubs. Camp by the river Gomathang river. O/N camp

Day 14. Trek to Dafey Bhir Meadow (4410m) - Lampokhari about 5-6 hrs. Steep climb for about 4 hrs till Dafey Bhir pass and after that descend down for about 1 hr. passing through dense rhododendron shrubs. Afternoon visit the beautiful Lampokhari Lake near by. O/N camp
   
Day 15. Trek to Yambung (3750m) about 5-6 hrs. The trail is gradual down hill passing through the rhododendron bushes and pine trees. O/N camp

Day 16. Trek to Chongri (2800m) 4-5 hrs. The trail is steep down hill for about 4 hrs passing through the dense mixed forest. Cross the Rimbik river and gradual walk for about 1 hr takes you to the campsite (small local village). O/N camp

Day 17. Trek to Chuzyam (2400m) 4-5 hrs.or Nayapatal - gradual down hill walk for about 3-4 hrs passing through the scattered local villages. O/N camp

Day 18. Trek to Nambu/Rimbi (1900m) 4-5 hrs. Descend for 1-2 hrs and then steep climb  for about 2.5 hrs passing through the cardamom plantations. O/N camp

Day 19. Trek to Darap (1850m) 3-4 hrs and transfer to Pelling ½ hr – Darjeeling 4-5 hrs drive. The trail is gradual and mostly concentrated on the rough motorable road for about 2-3 hrs passing through the local villages. On arrival at Darap transfer to Pelling. Visit the Pemayangtse Monastery and then transfer to Darjeeling. O/N hotel 

Day 20. Darjeeling sightseeing. Visit Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Zoo, Yiga Cholling Monastery, Tibetan Refugee Self Help Centre. O/N hotel

Day 21. Transfer to Bagdogra airport about 4 hrs
